BREAKING NEWS:
Hamilton and District Apartment Association (HDAA)
fights Licensing of Rental Housing in Hamilton
The Hamilton and District Apartment Association (HDAA) is gathering its forces to battle the City’s proposed licensing of Rental Properties in Hamilton. They have released a report outlining their opposition to licensing with alternate solutions to help solve the rental issues in Hamilton.
The September 18th City of Hamilton Planning Committee meeting saw a large
number of opponents to licensing, many of whom spoke passionately about their
desire to stop licensing in Hamilton. The HDAA is expecting the December 11th
Planning Committee meeting will draw a higher attendance and have a wider variety
of groups against licensing.
The HDAA has also started a petition on their website and all Ontario landlords are encouraged to sign the petition prior to December 11th. While this licensing is currently affecting the City of Hamilton, it could set a precedent for other municipalities in the future.
